The mainland side of this crossing is Ban Hua Hin Pier, a small local ferry point in Krabi's Nua Khlong district. This Ban Hua Hin pier should not be confused with the seaside resort town of Hua Hin in Prachuap Khiri Khan, which lies several hundred kilometers north on the Gulf of Thailand and has no ferry connection to Koh Lanta. The Ban Hua Hin–Ban Klong Mak crossing is used mainly by vehicles and passengers travelling between Krabi town, Krabi International Airport, and Koh Lanta.
