Surat Thani train station is a great hub for railway transportation as it is the only train station in Surat Thani. There are various ways of getting to the station. The first way is by bus. Surat Thani has 3 bus stations that provide multiple bus or minivan rides a day to the railway station among other places. Another means of transport is through boat and bus combination, this way is used when you are in any of the surrounding islands like Koh Tao, Koh Phangan or Koh Samui as you will have to take a boat ride followed by a bus ride to the station. Also, if you happen to be at Surat Thani Airport you can get a bus transportation to the train station. If you are willing to pay extra, you can hire a private car to take you from wherever you are to the station.
Surat Thani Railway Station is the principal rail center for the Thai Southern line. It is located in Thakham City at Phun Phin district on the Eastern Bank of Tapi River. The station was originally named back in 1915 Phun Phin Station and was changed later on, Surat Thani train station offers services like an advance booking office and a left luggage room, it also contains a lot of travel agencies. Every 20 minutes a train passes, giving you many schedules.
Koh Phangan
One of the amazing things about Surat Thani is that it is a gate to many gorgeous places like Koh Phangan. Koh Phangan has a very unique dynamic between being super chill and laid back and hosting the wildest parties you will ever see, this makes it truly a place for everyone to enjoy. Elephant Sanctuary and Sonchana Farm
Thai people have the utmost respect for elephants, and that is why you will find many sanctuaries there, where they are in great hands and well taken care of. Located in Khlong Sok, Phanom District, Surat Thani, Sonchana Farm is a family owned farm that supports eco-tourism and offers an elephant program where you can bathe, feed and meet precious elephants as well as plant crops and bond with nature a little more.
Oyster Farms
One of Surat Thani's points of pride is that it produces some of the largest oysters in the world. Here at the oyster farm, you will get to witness first hand how the oysters are harvested, grown and processed right till the end. At some farms you will get the chance to taste the oysters yourself, however, eating oysters does require a strong stomach. Hiring a boat to the farm is essential.
The Night Market
For travelers who explore culture with their taste buds, the night market is everything you will need to get to know more an original Thai culinary experience.
