The Bank of Thailand's museum is housed in Bang Khun Phrom Palace, an early twentieth-century royal residence beside the Chao Phraya that later became the central bank's home. The building alone justifies the visit: high stucco ceilings, formal staterooms and river frontage.
The collection traces money in Thailand from cowrie shells and bullet coins through the first banknotes to the modern currency, alongside the founding of the central bank and the country's monetary history. Displays are well presented in Thai and English, and the palace rooms themselves are part of the tour.
It sits north of the old city, near the river between Rattanakosin and Dusit.
