What's happening: traffic congestion on November 6th at Nathon Pier, Koh Samui
Travellers should prepare for traffic congestion on November 6th around Nathon Pier, Koh Samui, when a religious procession moves through Nathon town. This is public relations for the event: the Chak Phra tradition - donating robes Koh Samui District, year 2023, which will be held on 6 - 14 November 2023.
On Monday, November 6, 2023, starting at 8:00 a.m., there will be a procession of Phanom Phra boats by land.
The procession route
The procession route starts from in front of Bangkok Bank -> Koh Samui District Office -> in front of Nathon Market -> Wat Chaeng Intersection -> Nathon Beach Road -> Nathon Pier multipurpose area.
This may result in traffic congestion. During the time approximately 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Therefore would like to request public relations to use the diversion route. And allow time for traveling to Lomprayah Pier.

Who is affected
Anyone moving through Nathon on the morning of 6 November is affected: pier-bound passengers, road transfers, and local traffic on Nathon Beach Road. Because the route ends at the Nathon Pier multipurpose area, journeys to and from the pier area are the most exposed, including connections to Lomprayah Pier.
How to plan your journey
- Use the diversion route rather than driving through the procession route listed above.
- Leave earlier than usual, especially for the 08.30 boat departure, which falls inside the congested window.
- Tell your driver or transfer provider about the procession so pick-up times can be brought forward.
- Keep your ticket and departure details to hand in case check-in is busier than normal.
