Khao Lak-Lam Ru National Park
Khao Lak-Lam Ru covers a block of hill forest immediately behind the Khao Lak coast, running from the shoreline up into the range. It is the reason the resort strip stays narrow - the mountains come close to the sea here, and the park protects the slope between them.
The best-known point is the headland viewpoint above the coast road at the southern end, where a terrace and a small cafe look north along the whole sweep of beach. Inland the park holds evergreen forest, streams and several waterfalls, with marked trails from the headquarters, and the wildlife includes gibbons, macaques and hornbills.
The park entrance is on the main road south of Khao Lak village, and the viewpoint is reachable without any walking.
