Established in 1975 this place that began as a farm is nowadays one of the most interesting parks on the island. It combines several features that make it unique and totally worth visiting.

This beautiful garden covers 16003 meters and walking around it can take up to 2 hours; yet it is worth your time as you will see the largest orchid exhibition on the island and more than 1500 different flowers among hybrids and species. Guided tours through the garden cost up to 400 baht and at the end you will get your own orchid bouquet.

Apart from the spectacle of seeing this amazing garden; several activities are available every day in the garden: lunch is served in four different restaurants located inside the farm, small kiosks sell homemade passion fruit and mango ice cream in there too.

If you are looking for other activities that aren’t related with orchids, be sure you will find some of them in the farm; cultural shows happen twice a day, every day at 11 am and 5:30 pm in the 500-seat amphitheater.

These shows represents various aspects of southern culture; acts include classical dance, shadow puppet shows, Thai boxing exhibitions, sword fighting and more which makes it a perfect spot to know more about Thai heritage.

This amazing garden is located about 5km northern Phuket Town and getting there is very easy, it opens every day from 9 am to 5:30 pm. Prices vary depending on the activities you want to enjoy in the garden: up to 400 baht for entry and tour and up to 600 baht for lunch or dinner inclusive.


Phuket Botanic Garden

Visiting this place is a flawless plan for the entire family, it would be a great experience for the little ones and they will learn a lot about Thai’s flora. In this vast garden, there is almost every possible kind of vegetation, from ferns, cactus and rainforests to orchids, aquatic plants and many more. Even winter gardens are available here and a special selection of about 30 rare species.

The wide variety of plants and trees brought from northern Thailand make this place perfect to spend the day on a picnic under the trees. Actually, the garden is kind of separated by areas, and each one of them has its particular type of vegetation, simulating different parts of the world: desert, rainforest, plain and so on.

A good amount of different fruits is also part of the richness of what this beautiful place has to offer to their visitors; from mangos, bananas, mangosteens, jackfruits, lychee and rose apples, most of them came from Southeast Asia.

Even when it only has been 5 years since its opening, this botanic garden has rapidly become one of the must-visit parts on the island; in here visitors can take their time to observe plants from all over the world and enjoy the natural beauty.

Visiting this place may make you feel far away from Thailand for a while, yet it is an awesome place to go and relax.

This magical place is located in the southern area of the island, in Chalong. The garden opens daily from 9 am to 17:60 pm, except on Wednesdays when it is closed. The entrance payment for tourists is a little bit higher in comparison with local visitors; 500 baht per adult, 300 baht per child.


Animal and wildlife parks

Phuket Butterfly Garden

Working since 1990, this garden is one of the most iconic and ancient ones on the island. Located in Yaowarat Road in Phuket Town, this majestic garden has the biggest and most interesting exhibition of living butterflies.

During all this time they have worked, several renovations have been made to the garden, including the addition of other insects such as Moving Leaf insects, walking stick, scorpions, a collection of beetles, an Iguana, and various types of arachnoids to the family.

In addition, all the visits are qualified as very educative, as you will be shown all the life cycles of those insects and butterflies.

The park counts with two main areas: the outdoors one is a colorful tropical garden wherein up to 30 species of butterflies fly freely; it is approximately from 6000 to 8000 butterflies and you will be more likely to see more of them in sunny days.

On the other hand, indoors has different things to do apart staring and insects like; bars, restaurants and children rooms are available too. Also, in there, a small silk museum is currently working; same happens with a gift shop wherein you can buy all your souvenirs, insects related of course.

If interested in visiting this beautiful garden, it works daily from 9 am to 17:30 pm; you need an entrance ticket which costs 300 baht per adult, 150 baht per child under 10 years and children under 4 years do not need a ticket.


Khao Phra Thaeo National Park

Khao Phra Thaeo National Park

This beautiful land located in the northern area of Phuket is considered as the last significant virgin rain forest left on Phuket. Given this fact, this 223 km were classified as National Park to improve its conservation.

It is also known as Khao Phra Thaeo Wildlife Sanctuary because this park keeps a wide number of species of wild animals such as barking and mouse deers, bears, wild boars, monkeys, langurs, and gibbons. Moreover, a hundred of different bird species are part of the richness of this area, they live in the lush forest vegetation.

If feeling adventurous, inside of the lush forest there is an amazing waterfall. Ton Sai is a small yet beautiful waterfall located in the National Park. Guided tours will take you there through an eight-kilometer trek.

As any other National Park in Thailand, you need to pay a fee for entrance; in this case, the cost is around 400 baht and it includes the tour to the waterfall. Also, there is another Waterfall called Bang Pae which is also home of the Phuket Gibbon Rehab Center.

Gibbon Rehabilitation Center is an NGO with a clear goal: adopting gibbons that were taken as pets and return them to wildlife.


Phuket Bird Park

This is one of the most colorful places on the island. Located in Chalong, the Phuket Bird Park is the only privately-owned park on the island. It may sound selfish to own a place in order to have birds living in there; yet it is not like that at all.

This park is home of more than a hundred species from all over the world and this amazing place offers them a safe spot to live in a natural environment very similar to their original one.

Birds that inhabit this incredible park come from many different regions of the world; Asia, Africa and even South America.

Moreover, not everything is related with birds in this beautiful park, exotic flora decorates amazingly the environment giving visitors the sensation like you are right in the Amazonia.
