Taksin Maharat National Park, Tak
Taksin Maharat National Park covers hill forest on the Tak-Mae Sot road, and its best-known resident is a single tree: the Krabak Yai, a Dipterocarpus alatus around fifty metres tall with a trunk some sixteen metres in girth, reckoned the largest of its species in Thailand. A short boardwalk leads to it through forest that gives no warning of the scale until it is directly overhead.
The park also holds Nam Tok Pang Ah Nga, a waterfall dropping in nine distinct tiers down a steep forested slope, and a network of trails through evergreen forest on the ridge. The elevation makes it noticeably cooler than the plain.
The park is named for King Taksin, and is a short distance beyond Lan Sang on the same highway west.
