Cheow Lan Lake, Khao Sok
Cheow Lan is the reservoir formed behind the Ratchaprapha dam inside Khao Sok National Park. Limestone karsts rise straight out of green water, some of them several hundred metres high, in a landscape often compared to Guilin or to Halong Bay.
Visitors go by longtail from the dam pier, and many stay overnight in floating raft houses moored against the cliffs - simple rooms on bamboo platforms with the lake at the doorstep. Kayaks, swimming and dawn wildlife trips are what fill the time.
The Three Brothers karst formation is the most photographed spot on the lake. Bookings for raft houses are usually made as a package including the boat, since there is no other way out.
