The long, quieter beach south of Pattaya over the hill, six kilometres of sand and shade trees.
Jomtien Beach, Pattaya
Jomtien lies immediately south of Pattaya over Khao Phra Tamnak, and is the calmer half of the resort. Its beach runs for around six kilometres - far longer and considerably less crowded than Pattaya Beach - with a shaded promenade of casuarinas and a road of low-rise restaurants and condominiums behind.
The water is generally cleaner than at the northern end of the bay and the beach is used more by families and long-stay residents than by the nightlife crowd. Watersports operate along the middle section; the far southern end is quiet.
A night market sets up on the beach road, and the Bali Hai pier for the island ferries is a few minutes back over the hill.
