Khlong Chak Waterfall, Koh Lanta
A jungle waterfall in the island's south-east, reached by a walk upstream - and dry outside the wet season.
Khlong Chak Waterfall, Koh Lanta
Khlong Chak is Koh Lanta's waterfall, in the forest of the island's south-east. The walk in follows the stream for around thirty to forty minutes from the end of the road, past rubber trees and into proper jungle, with a bat cave off the path on the way.
The fall drops into a pool that can be swum in when the water is up. There are usually macaques and hornbills along the route, and the walk is as much the point as the destination.
It depends entirely on rain. In the wet season it runs well; late in the dry season it can be a trickle or nothing at all, and the pool with it. Ask locally before making the trip, and take shoes that cope with mud and stream crossings.
- Khao Mai Kaew Cave, Koh Lanta — A large cave system in the island's forested interior, visited on a guided scramble by torchlight.
- Mu Ko Lanta National Park, Laem Tanod — The lighthouse headland at the southern tip of Koh Lanta, with a nature trail and resident macaques.
- Bakantiang Beach (Ba Kan Tiang), Koh Lanta — A sheltered horseshoe bay near the island's southern end, and one of Lanta's best for swimming.
- Kaw Kwang Beach, Koh Lanta — The beach on the headland north of Saladan, looking across the channel to Koh Lanta Noi.
- Klong Dao Beach, Koh Lanta — The first beach south of the pier, wide and shallow, and the island's most family-friendly.
- Klong Khong Beach, Koh Lanta — A rocky, laid-back beach mid-island, known for its bars and its sunsets rather than its swimming.
