The southern tip of Koh Lanta Yai is Mu Ko Lanta National Park, and its headquarters sit on the headland at Laem Tanod beneath a small white lighthouse that is the island's most photographed structure.
There is a short beach on either side of the point, a campsite, and a nature trail of around two and a half kilometres that loops up through the forest behind. Long-tailed macaques live around the headquarters and are bold about food.
A park fee is charged at the gate. The last few kilometres of road are steep, rough and poor in the rain, and the park sometimes closes that access during the monsoon - check before setting out.

- Khao Mai Kaew Cave, Koh Lanta — A large cave system in the island's forested interior, visited on a guided scramble by torchlight.
- Khlong Chak Waterfall, Koh Lanta — A jungle waterfall in the island's south-east, reached by a walk upstream - and dry outside the wet season.
- Bakantiang Beach (Ba Kan Tiang), Koh Lanta — A sheltered horseshoe bay near the island's southern end, and one of Lanta's best for swimming.
- Kaw Kwang Beach, Koh Lanta — The beach on the headland north of Saladan, looking across the channel to Koh Lanta Noi.
- Klong Dao Beach, Koh Lanta — The first beach south of the pier, wide and shallow, and the island's most family-friendly.
- Klong Khong Beach, Koh Lanta — A rocky, laid-back beach mid-island, known for its bars and its sunsets rather than its swimming.
