Pai Plong Beach (the Monkey Trail), Krabi
Pai Plong is a small bay tucked around the headland at the eastern end of Ao Nang, invisible from the town and reached by the clifftop boardwalk locally called the Monkey Trail. The walk takes about ten minutes from the end of Ao Nang beach.
The bay is enclosed by limestone on three sides, and because it can only be reached on foot or by boat it stays far quieter than Ao Nang. A single resort occupies the back of the beach; the sand itself is public, as all beaches in Thailand are.
The trail is named for the macaques along it, which are habituated and bold. Do not feed them, carry food openly, or keep loose items in an open bag.
