Diamond Cave (Tham Phra Nang Nai), Railay
Tham Phra Nang Nai, the Inner Princess Cave and usually signed as Diamond Cave, is at the northern end of Railay East, a few minutes from the boardwalk. A raised walkway runs through the chamber, lit well enough to see by.
The name comes from the flowstone: sheets and columns of calcite that catch the light. Some formations are still growing, others have dried out. It is a modest cave by Thai standards and takes twenty minutes, which makes it a reasonable thing to do in the heat of the day or when rain has closed the climbing.
A small entrance fee is collected. The walkway is even but can be slick, and the cave is home to bats - as caves are.
