Railay East, Krabi
Railay East, Krabi faces back toward the mainland across a shallow bay lined with mangroves. It is not a swimming beach - the water retreats a long way and leaves mud flats - and it is all the better understood as the peninsula's working side.
Railay East, Krabi
Railay East faces back toward the mainland across a shallow bay lined with mangroves. It is not a swimming beach - the water retreats a long way and leaves mud flats - and it is all the better understood as the peninsula's working side.
The climbing shops, the cheaper guesthouses, most of the bars and the restaurants that locals eat in are here, along with the walkway to Phra Nang. Railay is one of the world's best-known sport climbing destinations and this is where the schools operate from; the walls above the path are busy with ropes from early morning.
Longtails from Krabi town and Ao Nam Mao land on this side. Railay West and its swimming are five minutes' walk across the flat.
