Surat Thani is a wonderful place filled with history and beauty. Getting to Surat Thani is very easy due to the vast options available, the only thing you have to do is choose your preferred mean of transport. Surat Thani has an international airport that offers and receives flights daily from many places whether they were domestic or international. It also has a fully functioning train station that multiple trips per day to and from many destinations including Chumphon, Bangkok, Hua Hin, Trang, and Nakhon Si Thammarat among others. One of the great ways to reach Surat Thani is by boat, as there are many piers that offer rides and tours to Surat Thani from many islands around like Koh Tao, Koh Phangan, and Koh Samui. The province has 3 bus stations filled with buses going to many places around Thailand including Krabi, Hat Yai, Phuket and more.

Surat Thani acts as a gateway to the beautiful islands of Thailand's Gulf Coast like Koh Samui, Koh Tao, and Koh Phangan. The name of the island translates as The City of The Good People which is a true representation of the locals there. Many people use Surat Thani as a middleman to get to the other islands however, it has amazing sights and amazing nature to marvel at.

Surat Thani contains a lot of beautiful and sacred religious sights among them is Wat Suan Mokkh Phalaram which is a wonderful retreat founded by Ajan Buddhadasa Bikkhu, who is a widely famous Thai monk. You can enroll for 10 days in the retreat to learn teaching that combines Taoism, Christianity, and Zen, the 10 days also features meditation. Whether you enroll in the retreat or not, it is definitely worth your visit. 

Surat Thani Town Chaiya National Museum

Chaiya National Museum
This is a very respected museum in Surat Thani as it has many cherished artifacts and relics. Taking a tour of this museum is a great way to get to know the Thai culture more and immerse yourself in its deep and rich history. The museum consists of 2 buildings that contain prehistoric and historic artifacts from the Sukhothai, Ayutthaya, Lop Buri, and Dvaravati eras. The museum, of course, includes English explanations. 

Surat Thani Town Ratchaprapha Dam

Ratchaprapha Dam
Ratchaprapha is a multipurpose dam used for flood control, fishing, electricity generation, and irrigation. The dam is also known as Cheow Lan Dam due to the fact of it residing on the beautiful Cheow Lan Lake. The dam was built in 1982 and measures 94 meters in height. Ratchaprapha dam in English means ‘the light of the kingdom’ which is a name given to the dam by King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
