Krabi Town Walking Street
Krabi's walking street takes over Maharat Soi 8 and the surrounding lanes in the centre of town at weekends, when the road closes and the food stalls come out. It is aimed at local families as much as at visitors, which is why the food is the point rather than the souvenirs.
Southern Thai cooking is well represented - khanom jeen rice noodles with curry sauces ladled over, grilled fish and squid, roti, and southern-style fried chicken - and there is usually a stage with music at one end. Tables are set out in the middle of the road and shared.
It runs in the evenings and is within easy walking distance of anywhere in the town centre, including the riverfront pier.
