Thara Park, Krabi Town
Thara Park runs along the Krabi river at the southern end of the town, and is where Krabi turns to face the water. A paved promenade follows the bank past lawns and shade trees to the passenger pier, and long-tail boats work the channel in front of it all day.
The view is the reason to walk it. Across the river the mangrove forest begins immediately, and beyond it the two limestone towers of Khao Khanab Nam rise straight out of the water at the river mouth - the image used on Krabi's provincial seal. Boats from the pier run out to the caves at their base and into the mangrove channels.
The town's bronze sculptures of prehistoric hominids stand along the promenade, and the night market sets up a couple of streets inland.
