Phuket Information
Phuket Ferries run frequently to and from Phuket mostly from Rassada Pier, although some trips between Phuket to Phi Phi Island will use the Sea Angel Pier. You can easily reach amazing places such as Phi Phi Island, Krabi Town, Ao Nang, Railay Bay and Lanta Island in just a short time with very little hassle. Ferry travel between islands is so simple now that it's really a must do for your vacation - there are some really precious destinations for you to encounter. The ferry boats are large and well maintained, holding up to 400 passengers per trip. You've got options on where to sit - out on the ferry boat deck or inside the boat which is a little more comfortable. If you're out on the boat deck, beware the power of the sun, which is increased by the glare from the sea water! Phuketferry.com has good relationships with the speedboat & ferry companies. You will need to print out your e-ticket and show it to the speedboat & ferry boat staff, but they are very familiar with us. They'll simply take your ticket and put a destination sticker on you. Then you're good to go, so enjoy your trip. Don't forget to check our speedboat & ferry Travel Tips so that you're well prepared. Bon voyage!

A Phuket Overview
Discover Phuket: Thailand's Premier Island Destination
Phuket, known as the "Pearl of the Andaman Sea" - truly one pearl of great value! At 21km wide and 48km long, Phuket is Thailand's largest and most popular tourist island. Whether you're seeking beach relaxation, cultural exploration, or adventure, this island delivers an unforgettable experience with excellent transport connections that make it easy to arrive and explore.
What Makes Phuket Special
Blessed with pristine tropical waters, awesome sandy beaches and coves, and a cultural variety of resorts and hotels, no wonder everyone wants to be here. Yet inland Phuket is just as fantastic, with old town rustic Sino-Portuguese architecture, authentic spicy Thai food restaurants and local Phuket hospitality.
The island combines modern tourism infrastructure with authentic Thai culture. Visitors can enjoy world-class accommodation alongside traditional street food markets, temple visits, and interactions with local communities that offer genuine insight into island life.
Getting to Phuket
One of the best ways to get to and from Phuket is by passenger ferry. Ferry travel offers a scenic journey across Thailand's waters and provides a relaxing alternative to air or road transport. You can be assured of great customer service with our ferry booking options, which connect Phuket to multiple mainland and island destinations.
Multiple transport options serve Phuket, including ferries, buses, minivans, and private transfers. Choose the travel method that best suits your schedule, budget, and comfort preferences. Ferry services offer particular advantages for island hopping or reaching Phuket from nearby coastal towns.
Main Ferry Routes and Connections
Phuket is well-connected by sea to surrounding islands and mainland ports. The primary ferry terminals handle passenger services throughout the year, with increased frequency during peak tourism seasons. Ferry connections make it possible to visit multiple islands in a single trip or combine your Phuket stay with exploration of nearby destinations.
Common ferry routes serve popular island connections and mainland gateways. Journey times vary depending on your chosen route and vessel type. Regular schedules mean you have flexibility in planning your arrival and departure times.
Practical Travel Information for Phuket
Plan your transport arrangements in advance, especially during high season when services fill quickly. Booking ahead ensures you secure your preferred departure time and often provides better rates than last-minute bookings.
Consider what type of journey suits you best. Ferry travel is ideal if you want to enjoy ocean views and experience Thailand's maritime culture. Ferries typically offer comfortable seating, and many services include onboard facilities. If you're short on time or prefer direct routes, alternative transport options may better suit your itinerary.
Weather can affect ferry schedules during monsoon seasons, so check conditions before you travel. Most operators maintain safety standards and adjust schedules as needed for passenger comfort and security.
Exploring Phuket Beyond the Beach
Getting around Phuket itself can be the most memorable travel experience of your life! The island offers diverse attractions beyond its famous beaches. Explore the historic old town with its distinctive architecture, visit active temples, trek through tropical jungle, or take boat tours to nearby limestone cliffs and hidden lagoons.
Local hospitality makes visiting Phuket welcoming and enjoyable. English is widely spoken in tourist areas, and staff at accommodations and restaurants are accustomed to international visitors. Still, learning a few Thai phrases enhances interactions and shows respect for local culture.

What are the tourist seasons ?
Phuket Ferry :
Phuket really just has two seasons, which are known as "high season" and "low season" (or "green season"). During the low season months (May- September), boat numbers are reduced. During the high season (October - April), boats to the surrounding islands are increased so you will have some more options.
Ferry Samui :
There are three distinct weather seasons on the tropical island of Koh Samui: the dry season (December until February), the hot season (March until August) and the rainy season (September until November).
Bali Ferry :
Bali actually has a variety of tourist periods, notably around the Balinese New Year, 15 December - 15 January, and 1 June - 30 September. During these high traffic periods, boats to the surrounding islands are increased so you will have some more options. The quieter periods are between 16 January - 30 April and 1 October - 14 December historically.
Will bad weather affect my travels?
Ferries are large and can usually operate in the rain, except in extremely bad weather. During storms or strong winds, the journey may take a little longer than usual.
Speedboats are more likely to be canceled than ferries. If a trip is canceled due to bad weather, you can choose to receive a refund or reschedule. Please note that refunds for bad weather are only issued if the ferry operator cancels the trip.
On rough days, we recommend bringing motion sickness medication and taking it about 20 minutes before boarding if you are prone to seasickness. Boat staff may also provide Dramamine upon request, but you will need to remain indoors during rough conditions. On sunny and calm days, the sun deck is open for passengers to enjoy the weather.
What's the boarding process on the day of my trip?
At the pier named on your ticket, look for the staff of the ferry operator listed on your ticket as well. Please present your e-ticket (QR code) from your phone or other device—they’ll provide you with a sticker and/or boarding pass and direct you to your boat. Most piers have staff available to help load your luggage. In Koh Samui, staff are usually stationed at booths near the boarding area; at other locations, they’re typically near the boats, wearing their company uniforms.
When will I receive my ticket confirmation?
After completing your online booking, your reservation will remain in “Pending” status until it is processed. Once confirmed, we will send your e-ticket via email. The process is usually very quick.
On the day of travel, please present your e-ticket to the ferry staff at the relevant booking counter. If you do not receive your confirmation within 24 hours, contact us immediately.
What are the baggage allowances?
Your ferry e-ticket includes ferry transport, baggage fees, and handling. The free baggage allowance per person is 20–25 kg, depending on the operator. If your baggage exceeds this limit, you can pay the extra fee directly to the ferry operator in cash.
To check the baggage allowance for your specific trip, please refer to the trip details for your selected route.
