Getting from Koh Phi Phi to Ao Nang and Vice Versa
12 April 2018

Many people think that traveling from Ao Nang to Phi Phi or vice versa is a very taxing thing but that is because of the many misconceptions they may have about the locations.

You are in luck as we are here to remove all worries and misconceptions you may have and ready to answer all your questions revolving around this subject.

Let us start with our first option!

Speed Boat

Speed BoatKnowing its name, you might already know that your trip will be a quick one. Speedboats are a great option for those who want to save time and spend money as the trip takes from 30 to 45 minutes as opposed to the Longtail boats which rarely go there and take about 2 and a half hours to 3 hours. The speedboat trip, however, is a bumpy one, so brace yourself for impact when you are on the boat.

You can even get yourself a private speedboat ride for you and your travel companions, it is expensive but if you split it with a group it is going to be less than you think.

The speed boat can be a great way to travel when you have company and it’s a quick one too. The private speedboat can be rented with an expense range from 10,000 to 15,000 THB.

Here are the steps for traveling by ferry

FerryFirst of all, you need to purchase a ferry ticket from one of the many travel agencies located both in Koh Phi Phi and Ao Nang. The price range changes from one place to the other, but the usual range is from 350 Baht to 400 Baht.

Secondly, you should continue on your way to the pier, but make sure to arrive at least 30 minutes early. When the ferry is waiting and already docked the ferry’s staff will allow you to get on board of the ferry and pick your seating place.

Third, when going to Ao Nang, near the end of the ferry trip which takes about 2 hours, you will find that the ferry will stop at Railay Beach right before Ao Nang to drop some passengers off. So when the ferry stops and the long boats approach these passengers you should stay on the ferry if your desired destination is Ao Nang.

Then, the ferry will go and pass over Ao Nang beach and reach a pier which is set 15 minutes away from the actual town. Once you arrive at the pier, get off and continue to one of the buses that will be waiting around in the area. Sometimes the ferry and bus staff will ask you about your accommodation that is because they will do their best to drop you off at or near your accommodation.
